Civil Engineering

Program offered : Diploma in Civil Engineering (3 years full time course)

Total Intake : 60 (First Shift-60)

Civil Engineering program is Accredited by NBA.

Civil Engineering Department has been established at this Institute since 2009 with an intake capacity of 60 students. The department has conducted Six training programmes for work charged assistants (class III), Irrigation department GOG. Department is continuously working for higher academic endeavour and the students are achieving very good result. They are also getting better campus placements (At Linde, L&T, etc.)

  • To impart quality education and introduce awareness of modern techniques to establish as acceptable civil engineers in the dynamic and challenging environment.
  • To inculcate soft-skills, team spirit, and professional ethics to render services for handling civil engineering works.
  • To prepare quality technocrats and professionals self-motivated to promote continuing education.

  • Plan, design, and efficiently supervise construction as well as carry out maintenance of civil engineering works within estimated time and cost.
  • Use of contemporary and innovative materials as well as advanced techniques for sustainable, eco-friendly infrastructures with optimal usage of resources.
  • Inculcate the sense of rendering services with responsibility, safety, morality and team spirit.
  • Motivate to continue lifetime education and take up challenging innovative projects.

Labs


  • In soil mechanics lab, we are conducting various tests on soil to determine its various engineering properties and classify the soil as per Indian Standard. 
  • We are identifying its suitability for various types of engineering structures.
  • For conducting various laboratory tests, among major equipments, we have box shear testing machine, thermostatic oven, test sieves, accurate digital balance, Atterberg limits apparatus, field density measurement apparatus, proctor density apparatus and pycnometer bottle and various other apparatus.

  • In structural mechanics lab, we are conducting various tests on different structural materials to determine its suitability under direct loading conditions like tension, compression and shear and also under flexure.  
  • We are determining the ultimate and safe capacity of material and identify its suitability for various types of engineering structures.
  • For conducting various laboratory tests, among major equipments, we have Universal testing machine – capacity 1000 KN, Compression testing machine – capacity 3000 KN, Izod cum Charpy impact testing machine and various other apparatus.

  • In applied mechanics lab, we are conducting various experiments to verify different laws of statics and identify various reversible and irreversible machines. 
  • We are determining the resultant force and law of machine for different machines. 
  • For conducting various laboratory tests, we have drawing board with frictionless pully, single purchase crab, differential wheel ad axle, double purchase crab, simple screw jack, friction apparatus, reaction of beam apparatus, digital balance and slotted weights.

  • In basic transportation lab, we are conducting various tests on various materials used in the construction work that can be used for a given transportation system.
  • we are conducting various tests on aggregate, bitumen for determining their suitability for the construction work that can be used for a given transportation system.
  • Among major equipments , we have compression testing machine, los angeles abrasion testing machine, impact testing machine, penetrometer, CBR test apparatus, pensky martin apparatus, ring and ball apparatus.

  • In surveying lab, we are describing basic concepts and practicing working of survey instruments like chain, compass, plane table, level and leveling staff.
  • We carry out various surveys on the field and prepare map according to filed condition and requirements using various survey instruments.
  • This laboratory is equipped with transit Theodolite, digital Theodolite and total station.

  • We teach C-211(Computer Aided Drawing) -3340606 and C-106(Computer Application and Graphics)-3300012 in computer laboratory.
  • In computer lab students develop various types of plans, elevations and interior drawings of civil engineering. 
  • Students can generate drawings of residential and commercial buildings by using various 2D and 3D Auto CAD commands.
  • In computer lab, we have 10 desk top PCs with printing and scanning facility. we also have movable LCD projector with laptop. We have licensed version of Auto CAD 2017.

  • In Water Supply & Sanitary Engineering Laboratory various tests as per curriculum are conducted like Determination of pH of given water sample, Determination of Turbidity of given water sample, Residual Chlorine and Hardness determination of given water sample, Biochemical Oxygen Demand and Chemical Oxygen Demand of Waste water, etc.  
  • Major equipments available in the laboratory are COD digester, BOD Incubator. Besides other equipments like Digital pH Meter, Turbidity meter, Hardness Apparatus, Residual chlorine kit, Digital weigh balance are also available. 
  • Water Supply and Sanitary Engineering Laboratory also has necessary glasswares and chemicals.

  • Hydraulics consists of the application of fluid mechanics to water flowing in a pipe or in an open channel. The laboratory is designed to examine the properties of fluids and to conduct experiments involving both incompressible and compressible flow.
  • Hydraulics laboratory is developed with the aim to develop different types of skills so that students are able to measure the flow of water in different conditions using various measuring devices and to compute discharge and loss of head through pipes, open channels, notches and other hydraulic structures.
  • Major apparatus or equipments include Hydraulic Bench, Bernoulli’s Apparatus, Venturimeter, Rectangular and Triangular Notch Apparatus, Pipe friction Apparatus, Pitot tube Apparatus and Reynold’s number Apparatus.
