Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at R.C.Technical Institute. The department offers Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 120 intake capacity in both shifts. The department has highly qualified faculty members, state of art laboratories and infrastructures. The primary focus of our curriculum is to impart technical know-how to students, promote their problem solving skills and innovation of new technologies. Department offers large number of optional courses for providing wide spectrum of options to the students to pursue their interest. Department starves for giving best technical knowledge to students, for this department is organizing Industrial Visits, Expert Lectures, Skill development Programs under Skill India Project of Government of India, Various Programs under RUSA (Rashtriya Uchatar Shaxarta Abhiyan). In addition to this the students are also encouraged to participate in Co-Curricular, Extra- curricular and student centric activities organized by the department / Institute for their holistic development.

Labs


  • The purpose of this lab is to develop the ability of engineering drawing in different conditions using proper drawing instruments and equipment according to Indian standards as per BIS.

  • BED lab is located in room no. 204 in the main building of RCTI campus. It is facilitated by the big size drawing tables and enough proper sitting capacity to accommodate the students for best engineering drawing space.

  • The purpose of this laboratory is to familiarize students about fundamental knowledge based associated materials properties, and their selection and application.

  • MSM Lab is located at Room no. 107 in the Main Building.

  • The objective of this lab is to develop sketching ability and also strengthens effective engineering communication & presentation.

  • Mechanical Drafting Laboratory is located at Room no. 204 in the Main Building and it has a number of big drawing tables which enables the students to accommodate their drawing materials.

  • The purpose of this laboratory is to familiarize students with various basic manufacturing processes..

  • The objective of this lab is to give hands on experience through preparing jobs on pattern making, mould preparation, casting, various types of welding, forging, etc..

  • Manufacturing Engineering-I lab is equipped with various instruments like Moulding set for casting , equipments for hot forging, Arc welding machines, Spot welding machines, Gas welding equipment,etc.

  • The objective of this lab is to impart the technical skills to students  in the area of fluid mechanics and hydraulic devices.

  • The lab is equipped with different set-ups required for performing the practicals.(i.e. Venturimeter, Orifice meter, Centrifugal pump and Bernoulli’s theorem apparatus and Hydraulic bench etc.)

  • The aim of this laboratory is to provide required computing and simulations facilities to the students in order to meet their requirements of courses. 

  • CAD/CAM Lab is located at Room no. 105 in the Main Building.

  • The aim of this laboratory is to provide required computing and simulations facilities to the students in order to meet their requirements of courses. 

  • CAD/CAM Lab is located at Room no. 103 in the Main Building.

  • The objective of Thermal engineering-I laboratory is to familiarize the students with various parts/components of low pressure boilers, steam turbines, nozzles, condensers and cooling towers with the help of models/cut sections/video/movie. Another objective is how to conduct a performance test/trial of boiler, air compressor and heat exchanger.

  • The laboratory is equipped with various models required to demonstrate to students during experiments.


  • The purpose of this lab is to provide necessary knowledge and skills in the area of mechanical equipment and devices to help in understanding of kinematics & dynamics of different equipment being used in industry. 

  • TOM laboratory is equipped with various equipment and models such as four bar link mechanism, cam follower working model, cam analysis apparatus, clutch models, Gear drive model, chain drive model etc.


  • The purpose of this laboratory is to familiarize students with various measuring instruments and measuring techniques.

  • The objective of this lab is to give hands on experience through various measuring instruments.

  • Metrology lab is equipped with various instruments like Vernier caliper, micrometer, Telescopic gauge, Height gauge, Depth gauge, Bevel protector, Sine bar, Slip gauge, Dial indicator, V block, Gear tooth vernier caliper, Surface plate,etc.


  • The purpose of this lab is to provide necessary knowledge and skills in the area of maintenance work, which helps the student to understand the procedure and the use of various mechanical hand tools and equipment being used in industry.

  • Laboratory is located at room no. 511 in the mechanical workshop and lab is equipped with all necessary equipment.

  • The objective of this lab is to impart the technical skills to students to compute the performance of Internal Combustion Engines, Refrigeration systems and air conditioning parameters in different appliances.

  • The lab is equipped with different set-ups required for performing the practicals as mentioned in the syllabus.

  • The purpose of this laboratory is to familiarize students with various machines and their operation.

  • The objective of this lab is to give hands on experience on machines and develop machining skills and maintenance of machines.

  • ME-III Laboratory is equipped with various machines like Surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, milling machine, shaper machine, drilling machine and accessories of machine with safety equipment.

  • The objective of this lab is to give hands on experience on application of various industrial engineering techniques 

  • The lab is equipped with various sets of items required for performing practicals like stop watches, playing cards, set of  buttons, washers, chip sets, cylindrical pins  etc.

  • The purpose of this laboratory is to familiarize students about various power plants, its elements and their functions.

  • Power plant engineering lab is equipped with various models of thermal power plant, nuclear power plant, hydro power plant, high pressure boilers (i.e. Loffler boiler, Lamont boiler).
